Here is a sneak peak at the craziest daytrip I have ever taken. 10 seconds, 20 seconds…basically however long you spend staring at the photos.
Chernobyl and its aftermath has interested me for years now, ever since I studied about it in the Soviet history course I took in college. I’m sure there will be some people who won’t be able to comprehend my desire to visit the site of the world’s worst nuclear accident, and some who will write it off just as “dark tourism”, so let them. All I can say is that it was an experience that I will never forget and although it doesn’t necessarily make me a better person, it makes me a more informed person which is exactly what I wanted from it. More to come…

Passport control before entering the Exclusion Zone.

Tanks and trucks used during the evacuation of Chernobyl, Pripyat and other towns within the 30 km radius of the Exclusion Zone.

Reactor #4 and an extremely high dosimeter reading…we didn’t stay long.

Entering the abandoned city of Pripyat.

Radiation checkpoint before leaving the Exclusion Zone….I passed!
